The axle retainer plate hardware is responsible for holding your axles to the rear end housing. Four bolts and nuts hold each axle backing plate to the rear end. The hardware is meant to be a direct replacement for the original hardware. T-bolts join with locking nuts to secure the axles. The job of this hardware is very important so it's best to replace rusty hardware.
