1965-1970 Mustang Power Steering Control Valve Seats

Have you replaced your power steering hoses and your system still leaks? You probably need to replace the seats in your PS Control Valve! These sit in the 4 Control Valve hose ports and act as aluminum washers to ensure a good seal at high pressure. When the steel flare ends of the hoses get tightened up, they crush into these seats and the aluminum presses into a perfect pattern of the steel being forced into it. When you remove the hoses and put them back in at a slightly different angle, the pattern that was crushed into the aluminum never lines up perfectly and you get leaks. To fix this, simply fish out the old seats and put these new ones in. Once you tighten in the lines, they will stop leaking. But remember... if you then have to loosen the lines to make adjustments and re-tighten them... they will leak again. These are ONE USE ONLY type seats. Make sure you are 100% ready to tighten these suckers up before you do it! The earlier Mustangs used a 1/4" Dia Pressure Inlet Hose Fitting from 1964 to half way through 1967. Half way through 1967, Ford revised their Control Valves to allow for a larger 5/16" Dia Pressure Inlet Hose Fitting. If you have a 67 Mustang or Cougar, make sure you check which control valve you have.
